Uniforms
UNIFORMS
School uniform colors are navy blue, white and burgundy. Students may wear collared shirts that are navy blue, white or burgundy. They may wear pants, dresses, skirts, skorts or shorts that are navy blue. Students may also wear spirit wear or MUSD apparel any day of the week. *Uniforms will not be enforced during the 2020-21 school year.*
DRESS CODE
Marshall Pomeroy Elementary School is a Uniform School. Students are required to be in uniform every day. All clothing should be neat, clean and in good condition. Clothing shall be free of writing, pictures, symbols or insignia which are: crude, vulgar, profane, sexually suggestive, promote or advocate prejudice, illegal or disruptive activity, or violence. Shirts with collars are preferred. Halters, tank tops, crop tops, or shoulder bearing styles are strictly prohibited. Sweaters, sweatshirts and jackets should be no more than one size larger. Please be courteous by taking off your hat or hood in class, indoors or an assembly.
If a parent wishes to excuse his or her child from the uniform policy due to a medical reason, an appointment must be made with the assistant principal. Waiver forms are available in the office. Waivers are accepted only the first two weeks of the new school year. Students without a uniform waiver are required to be in uniform during class every day except for Spirit Days and Free Dress Days.
Field Trips
Uniforms are required on field trips unless otherwise specified by the classroom teacher.
Free Dress Day
Pomeroy will have a free dress day every last Friday of the month. Please consult the school calendar or newsletter for the dates. On these days, students are allowed to wear clothing other than their uniform. On free dress days students are to dress according to the MUSD school dress code (see above).
Uniform Purchase Assistance

Stores to Shop for Uniforms

Shoes must be worn at all times and be safe and appropriate for all school activities. Due to daily recess activities, closed-toe shoes are required at this site. No heels higher than 1 1/2” are permitted.
Hats and other non-religious head coverings may not be worn indoors.
Belts must be of appropriate length and contained within belt loops.
Students may not wear objects or any other items of apparel that present a health or safety hazard to themselves or to others.
Graffiti 'tags' will not be allowed on any items brought to school. Items such as backpacks, personal belongings, books, folders, and notebooks should be free of graffiti and tags.
The following is not acceptable at school:
Any clothing or personal belongings that are deemed as gang related, depict the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, contain offensive language, graphics or symbols, or deemed inappropriate by the site administrator.
The school may require additional dress standards because of special health and safety circumstances. The school may adopt uniforms as deemed appropriate by the school community as outlined in board policy 5132.1.
